Hiya Everyone!I am called Obscura or Zash by those in FFXIV.I have RPed for over 25 years: from Tabletop, LARP, Play-by-post on forums, interactive theater, and more recently in MMORPG's.In the past 15 years I have helped create RP games by building the world, events and providing documents for character creation and how to RP. I have also helped GM Forum RP and MMORP while providing help with characters and RP.

My In-depth RP Background

I began my path to 'official' RP in 1997, with not exactly a tabletop, but a loosely ran version of a tabletop that was story driven with minimal stats or rolls.From there I dabbled in various tabletops ran by friends. All gave me great memories and experiences.

My first introduction to LARP was in 2000, when a friend took me to an Amptgard meetup and I attended a number of times before my friends there went into bootcamp and I left for college.It wasn't until I joined a small local LARP with a friend in '02 that I dove headfirst into RP. There I created a character that I immersed into the stories of those around me.After a few years with that group, I joined another one that was just starting up, helping them to found a new LARP in '05. As a founding member, I helped write the history of the world the game was played in, as well as the rules and guides for how to play in it. I helped manage the website where members could find help with characters and plot development, as well as post their characters stories and participate in play-by-post Roleplay on the forums to supplement the story between meet ups. I created a database to manage player information to keep track of their interests and keep in contact with them.I also aided in organizing and planning events including combat tournaments, masquerade balls, grand feasts and festivals. After 12 years we brought the game to an end.

In 2011, I joined a play-by-post forum for RPing within the world of The Black Jewels book series. Due to my previous experience with forums and helping run a LARP, I joined the Admin helping her with the forum management.Part of being an Admin was being a Game Master, approving characters and plots (to the rules of the game) and overseeing the plots to aid those running them as needed. While there I provided writing and Roleplay tips to those playing in her game. I did this for about a year and a half when real-life interrupted all of us.

In 2013 I resumed playing SWTOR and found an RP group that was cross-faction with guilds on both factions: Imperial and Republic, the Phantom Legion and the Order of Mercy.After a week of being a member and attending my first RP event with them, I messaged the Guild Master with some suggestions and letting him know I enjoyed the event. By the end of the second week I started to help with the website giving technical advice and suggestions. I found myself helping with more organization and providing information to help those within the guilds with Roleplay.Before the end of the month the Council added me to their ranks. With this I played a major part in an overhaul of the running of the Guild so everything did not fall on the Guild Master's shoulders to get done while keeping the Guild fully his. Part of that help took the form of aiding the planning of cross-faction plots and events. I helped recruit members to help with leading various content activities. I also provided cross-faction neutral events for casual RP that helped those new and experienced, as well as a 'RP Talk and Learn' ooc/ic workshop for both guilds.

After a 2 year long RP hiatus I decided to RP again in 2019, this time in FFXIV. After finding the Aether RP Hub I dove straight into RP and instead of just providing resources for my FC I created the Faerie RP Hub and the Aether RP Library.Though both the discord servers have been retired and I have moved to Marilith with my characters I am still RPing with my rp partners and fc. We are currently taking advantage of the move to a new server/datacenter by reviewing the direction and goals of the FC are for RP.(Note, I am coming out of a 2 year burn out, but I am slowly getting everything back to 100%!)

I am open to most types of RP, however I do expect for it to make sense for the characters and situations I am RPing. I am a big fan of things developing organically.Warning and discussion is preferred and required for some types: combat, conflict/confrontation, thriller/horror, and romance. If it contains questionable topics, please let me know as there are some subjects I will avoid.I will do Discord RP, however I do enjoy In-game RP and will want both!I adjust my writing style to where I am RPing. If I am at a venue or event, I tend to stick with fairly short conversational RP with some custom emotes thrown in that offer some minimal description of character action/reaction. If it is a smaller event, say around 4-8 people my responses may be longer. In small group RP, 1 on 1 or say 3-4 people, my responses will fluxuate based on the flow of conversation. For RP on discord I tend to aim towards a couple of paragraphs.However in all cases the length of my responses are very dependent on the characters reaction and action. For example, if I have already described a fidget in detail, I will mostly likely avoid repeating describing it in detail if it continues through or reappears through a scene. In addition, sometimes my characters do not give a long response. If you are expecting someone who will consistently pump out multi-paragraph responses... I am not the right person to RP with you /shrug.

Though I will RP romantic relationships, these will be IC only and must not be forced, progressing naturally for the characters.Though our characters may be romantically involved, we are NOT outside of our characters.Just because one of my characters may be romantically involved with yours does NOT mean that the rest will pair up with yours.For romantic RP, I do require clear OOC discussion about mine and my partners expectations for the RP, as well as do's and don'ts for each of us.I enjoy writing/rping romantic relationships while my partner does not. He is aware of my romantic RP relationships and is kept fully in the loop.

I do have a number of chronic health issues that can make it difficult for me to RP sometimes. I do give my RP partners a bit more information as to the health conditions from what is stated here.I will do my best to keep my RP partners informed and work with them so that things do not come to a grinding halt for any plots or scenes, however as this is a collaboration help is much appreciated to make sure things continue.One of my health issues does mean that I will go AFK quite suddenly, and may need 15-60 minutes before continuing. I will do my best to let those I am RPing with know that I am going afk, though it may be without explanation. This is not something I can avoid, and I am doing what I can to prevent this and to recover quickly.A side-note, I am neuro-divergent, and my brain does not work like "normal". I will still do my best to communicate, but there will be things that are just not obvious to me while things that I will see that others won't.

My availability is very open. Typically from 1pm EDT to 1am EDT most days of the week.There are exceptions depending on health, medical appointments, projects and errands.I will let those I RP with know when I am free or not as the case arises.
